Yes, this is actually Mark and I in some random park...ha
This will be short but sweet. Life is insane since school started. I no longer have time to make meals or do much of any cleaning during the week due to school and work and so Mark has taken over many of these tasks. This week he has make me dinner twice, and I mean real dinner (not that he never did it before though). One night I came home to grilled rosemary salmon with potatoes and veggies (he was so proud of himself for substituting summer squash for red potatoes as it saved a lot of $) and I was absolultely amazed!!! Then two nights later he made steamed veggies and rice (which he even placed in a bowl and then turned over so it was in that neat shape) and made some frozen fish we had. Again, I was blown away by his utter creativity and skill. He'll soon be passing me up in the kitchen. Wow...I am one lucky girl.
Another item to note is that Mark and I have started 6 AM yoga classes last week. He is the only boy in the class and handles it superbly. We are beginning to feel very limber!
Other news is that we (Mark) are beginning to post albums from our trip one day at a time. That is the goal at least...one every other day or so. The newest album we have up is the Barcelona album-feel free to view at your right!!
EXCITING NEWS!! An early birthday present from my mom (early because Mark and I were going to get one this weekend anyway and when I told her she had to intervene...sorry for ruining the surprise mom!)...Mark and I are soon to have a new addition to our kitchen...A PERSIAN RICE COOKER. How is this different than a normal rice cooker you may ask? The difference is that persian rice cookers create an amazing thing called "tadik". Takik is the part of the rice everyone always fights over...a thick layer of crispy brown rice that is unlike anything I can explain. Anyway, it is really hard to make in a pot b/c it sticks but in a persian rice cooker you just turn over the pot and out it comes...a beautiful layer of tadik formed over the perfectly cooked bastmati rice. I can't wait!!!
So this was longer than I thought it would be - life is busy now but wonderful. We look forward to apple picking, museums, camping and other fall-ish things in the near future. We'll keep you posted!

i'm still bummed i missed out on eating salmon with you - it sounded so good. next time i go for a lame hot pocket dinner alone at my house after a long day of work, i'll think twice...maybe mark will call, offering a yummy homemade meal...i never shouldve eaten that silly thing. what was i thinking?
also, you should keep me posted on the apple orchard thought...i might want to invite myself along :) and afterwords, libby (and mark), we should bake apple pies...mmmm....

I also would like to thank mom cannon for the persian rice cooker!
i know the rice you are talking about and I've been craving it for four years.
p.s. I took a yoga class with david last fall semester. we loved it. he was one of the few guys. he also would breath the loudest. it was funny. i just bought a yoga video that I started doing. i bought it becaused it was an intermediate/advanced one and it has the ocean in the background. I am so sore. invite me over and well do some sun salutaions and eat that wonderful crispy rice. namiste
I wish I could find a yoga class--my flexibility is, well, bad. While I'd really like to take a class, I'd quickly pass on a 6 am class--sleep is also fundamental to my well-being. Mark, I hope you're representing us men well! You guys are really keeping busy! Good luck with the new rice maker; sounds like the quality of your meals has just been bumped up a level.
