Our voyage back to Morocco...

Libby and I recently started reading books together. Our latest book was one I read my senior year of high school called The Alchemist. I remembered clearly my fondness for it, but had forgotten why.
It didn't take us long to remember, and we read pretty ferociously! We followed the heart of young Santiago, a Spanish shepherd from Andalusia, in the pursuit of his dreams. Our minds recalled our own experiences in the region, as we read of his adventures in Tangier (Morocco), his time spent in the deserts of the region, and his time with the desert nomads. Most of all, I think the message of the book--of following one's heart and becoming purified as we come to know God, life, and ourselves--resonated within us deeply.
If any of you have not read it, we think it's fabulous. It's definitely on my top five list of books in life.
But don't ask Dad what he thinks of it :)

Dad doesn't like The Alchemist?? Why not? It's great! I'd love to hear why....
I'm glad you guys read/re-read that book...it's such a good one!
The Alchemist is a great book (I am going with the consensus opinion here). My experience that I took about a year to read it...a few pages here, a few pages there...so, the message wasn't as clear or compelling as your experience with the book. Of course, you have all shamed me into re-reading it some day. And, for those in Larksville...of course the book would be more compelling to you...have travelled the sand dunes of Morocco!!
DEFINITELY one of my favorites ever!!!
This is the first book you recommend that I read, and I loved it. I actually just recommended it to my MIL for her book club. I need to read it again sometime soon.
Dad
I apologize for any hard feelings, embarassing you in front of this blogosphere. No hard feelings :)
Mark--you didn't embarass me at all...really...isn't it normal to take a year to read a book?
Is it normal to have not had time to read a book in a year....pathetic. I think it is perfectly normal.
Mark,
I went to your blog and saw your pictures of the Sahara and then of Leanna and Nate. All were wonderful. But the highlight was how you caught Leanna's eyes. Nicely done.

Lib, what's your email address? We'd LOVE to see you out here in DC! What are you coming out for?
Hey Mark and Lib, this is on my list of things to read.
