Christmas at the Cannons!

Midway was a winter wonderland this year, perfect for a great family get-together.  Here's the place we stayed (or one like it).  There was a giant moose outside of the house, the whole time.

Needless to say, we had a wonderful time with everyone.  There are so many highlights.  Here are a few.  It started with hauling half of our house up to Midway in a storm, with a christmas tree on top.
It took a few days to get everybody together.  In the meantime, we enjoyed playing games, snowshoeing, and relaxing.

Christmas eve was a blast!  We had a great dinner of ham, danish red cabbage, potatoes, rolls...the works.  And to top it off, fromage.  Fromage is a danish dessert, and there is a great game to play with it.  You simply put two almonds in to the mix, and whoever finds it, wins a present!
Did we mention that we hosted a homeless man??  His name is James.  He won the second almond gift, a gift card to Subway.  Way to go James.
For Christmas eve we wore ugly sweaters (we picked names out of a hat and then went to DI and purchased the most hideous thing we could find).  Mine, though, was beautiful.  I actually like Lib's (you can see them in a picture above.
We spent some quality time together...playing every sort of game, watching movies (I really like The Dark Knight), and thoughtful gospel conversations.
Libby got me the cooolest new camera lens...a "Lensbaby"...it offers a pretty unique manual focusing style...here's one of them.  Thanks Lib!  (Her gift is equally as cool but not yet arrived...).
The community pool was a blast.  Especially the snow games we played.
Hot springs, baby.
Thanks Cannons for a wonderful Christmas!  It was so great to spend quality time with everyone.  We will miss having you around!

Mark! Awwwesome post...you pretty much covered it all except for one tiny detail....CLARA! We ooowed and aahed and cooed over her every blink and giggle the entire time. She was such a joy and little light, definitely big part of the trip for the entire family! And yes, it was a total blast and we are going to miss you all terribly.

Hey! Sounds like you two had a wonderful Christmas. I'm jealous of all of the snow you had.

PS..you might want to make a sandwich for yourself on leannas meal night. She has played the hide the almond game with me before...only it wasn't almonds she was hiding!

Have a great New Years with the Fam!!

That looks like you had a great time! The sweaters surely kept everyone humble for a short while! Mark--The Dark Knight?? Too dark for me. The hot springs look like fun...but I haven't been able to break the code: the men wear hats...the women do not. Must be a Utah thing. I am glad that everyone could get together. Libby, I hope your gift shows up pre-Easter. pjm
